A gathering place for astronomy enthusiasts

Thanks for all the Portaball comments.  Yes, it has Zambuto optics, is the 12 1/2" F/5 model.  I have bags of lead shot to put in the ball near the mirror if I need more weight there.  It moves smoothly.  It has the Rigel finder scope with dew heater for it and the secondary, a standard option.  I also added on an Orion light weight right angle erect image finder which I recommend even with the slight extra weight in the ball.  This is over 5 years old, an improved version is sold now.

I looked at the Portaball website:  very nice instruments.  Obvious quality.  However, I did not see any prices advertised.  How much would an 8" or 12" cost?  Danny

Jerry, I was on the Mag1 website and noticed the newly resigned model. These scopes are first glance the design appears over simplified but considering that they have arguably the best mirrors in the industry I think looks are definitely deceiving. I would love to see one first hand.
